While their house and property was incredibly beautiful, I think the most satisfying thing for me to see was this: Seeing someone have a dream and go out and make it come true. The land now known as Cameron East was originally a part of Cameron Plantation which was established 1841, and has been meticulously managed for wildlife since the early 1980’s. The chicken coop is in the background with the climbing roses. Situated just south of the Big Black River, Patina Farm consists of 1,350 acres of hardwoods, wildlife habitat and agriculture fields. The roses were in full bloom, which was really pretty! Love their beautiful arches below. The plants are all listed in their book.Įverything was so cute and utterly charming. Steve said in the garden he chose to do similar color palettes for all of the plants, so there are actually not too many different plants. They had two days of an open house with 500 people each day – whew, what a lot of work giving tours to that many people! Visiting their house was like stepping right into the pages of their books! We have been admirers of their books for years and have been inspired by their beautiful home.īrooke and Steve gave tours of the inside themselves. A double-height multifunction room provides a space for meetings, gallery space and additional dining spacein fact, one wall encompasses a huge metal-patina, vertical-lift door to expand the space into the. A new location for the Faculty Club will expand its capacity from roughly 70 to 100 seats and has access to a three-season, rooftop deck. They have donkeys, chickens, goats and sheep at their farm. The open house was to celebrate their new book, Patina Living, which is all about life on the farm in Ojai, California. They created one of the most charming homes and wrote about it in their multiple books – Patina Style, Patina Farm, and their newest book, Patina Living.
This past weekend we had the opportunity to go to an open house and book signing at Steve and Brooke Gianetti’s Patina Farm located in Ojai, California. We’ll also be bringing along the heart and soul of Patina Farm our animal family members that mean so much to us will definitely be making the move, too. For the entrance to Patina Farm, I envisioned a country road, similar to this. Their goats and donkeys kept us company while we enjoyed the scenery on their beautiful property, which they call Patina Farm. Every successful design project starts with a dream, and the dream is made up of a group of strong visual and emotional ideas. Steve has lately been wanting to spend some more time practicing outdoor painting and extended the invitation for us to paint together. Their first book, Patina Style, was published in September 2011 by Gibbs Smith. They built the main house on top of the hill. Brooke’s and Steve’s work has appeared in Veranda Magazine, Coastal Living, C Magazine, Romantic Homes, HGTV, New Old House, Rue Magazine, Red Book, Good Housekeeping, The New York Times and several regional publications. They bought 5 acres, and started to realize their dreams, naming their creation Patina Farm. Steve is one of the most sought-after architects in California (website: Giannetti Home) and Brooke is an interior decorator and writer of the popular design blog Velvet and Linen, which was named as a top 10 design blog by the Washington Post. They’re such nice people and quite a remarkable couple. I recently had the privilege of painting at the nearby home of Brooke and Steve Giannetti.
